She also told me that her grandfather West (Meredith) died from some sort of illness, "got sick", which appears to be true, and that her grandmother, P.A., told her that Patience's grandfather (that would be great grandfather - Jim Allen) was a Tory, and that she had Indian in her family. On the Indian thing, my grandmother said that P.A. said that the Indian ancestor was four or more generations back from Patience (according to Patience), not that they were "half Indian" or anything like that which seems to have developed. Played football for Paul Tyson. Junior went to prison and while there he wrote math books. Found a newspaper article showing the birth of Cheryl Jean Brownlow March 2, 1947. They lived at 1526 N7th in Waco. ____________________________________________________________ ____________________________________ From Sandy Joy ( Lee ) Hall Helen was my mother. She and my father divorced when I was 10 months old, and she married Bob Brownlow when I was 3. I was not related to Bob, but did live with him until he and Helen divorced....I was Bob’s step-daughter. I started school in Waco when we lived in Mrs. (Florence) Brownlow’s house. When I was in the third grade Bob and Helen bought a new home out by Lake Waco and I was in school there when they divorced and we moved to Corpus Christi. Cheryl was also in school there, but Billy had not yet started school. I remember Bob being a terrific gymnast. We would go over to the Baylor University Campus where they had some outdoor bars and rings and Bob would use those. He was very strong. He was also very intelligent. He worked for what was then called Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. His job, as I understood it, was to travel from relay station to relay station...they were/are small brick buildings located along the highways. He would either take readings or work on equipment at each station. It was in his travels when he met the woman he married after he and Helen divorced. He was married to that woman when he got into a fight and shot and killed a man. I kind of remember if was someone with status in the Dallas area where they shooting occurred, but by that time I was in Corpus living with Martha Pearl and Johnnie Eugene Chandler, my grandparents. Helen married again after we moved to Corpus; he husband was in the Navy so they moved to Massachusetts where Helen worked at the NAS in Civil Service so I lost track of Bob at that point. I had gone to spend two weeks with him and his second wife when I was 13...this being before the shooting. While in prison Bob also offered his body to medical science for trial medications and procedures. In fact, they even took biopsies from his body to test after he had been on some of the medications. He was a “human guinea pig”. I don’t think he had any residual health problems from those tests, however, how would we have known? He did gain an inordinate amount of weight after he got out of prison. Bob was also a very talented artist. He made me a tray with match sticks and cut marbles in a design that was extremely intricate. Billy Bob must have inherited some of that artistic talent, as he also made lovely leaded glass lamps and oil paintings. ____________________________________________________________ ________________________________________ I found a divorce document for Robert M Martin and Betty M Moyer in Jan 1969 in Alameda Calif. 132 | Amelia died in 1862 when baby Amelia was born. Submitted On: 7 Sep 2004 - Submitted By: Sandra Brownlow - keisanb1@consolidated.net Eli Williams, who was living in NC, received a land grant in Florida from U.S. Congress in 1798 for revolutionary services. This documentation is easy to find, but I have not tied him into our line yet. But, I think he will be there. ca. 1790 a John Williams and wife, Amelia were living around the Waccasassa Marina and Levy County Boat Landing in Florida. In 1843, Amelia Williams, b. 1822 Florida, married William Monroe Brownlow. William and Amelia Williams Brownlow married in Early County, GA. in 1843. They moved immediately to Nachitoches Parrish, Louisana where their first four children (James Monroe Brownlow, Elias Albert Brownlow, Rebecca Brownlow and Mary E. Brownlow) were born. They moved on to Victoria County, Texas about 1857/8. In the 1860 Victoria County, Texas Census, there is an "N. Williams, age 18, born Florida" living with William and Amelia Brownlow and their children. In 1861/2 another baby, Amelia Brownlow II, was born. Amelia I died in 1862. William was killed in the Civil War before 1864. He had married 2nd. Malinda. Malinda changed the baby's name from Amelia II to Malinda Brownlow II according to the 1870 Census. A brother, (Benjamin Brownlow, b. Chatham County, NC) to our line moved from Guillford County, NC, to Levy County, FL. Our Brownlow's came out of VA to NC before GA, LA and Texas. (Note: It seems more likely that William Monroe Brownlow was born in SC as that is what he documented in the 1850 La Census, Gene Brownlow) Somehow, it seems logical that our Williams line migrated mostly through the same areas with the addition of Florida which was mostly populated by Native Americans at the time. If anyone has information that would help me tie any of this together, it would be appreciated.
